The Troubling Internal Logic of the Far Left’s Calls for Violence

The lack of meaningful dialog seems to always lead toward violence. And every day we avoid uncomfortable conversations, our ability to engage in meaningful dialog atrophies due to lack of exercise. Clausewitz is most famous for saying that is “War is the continuation of politics by other means.” One might re-phrase Clausewitz and say “violence is the continuation of dialog by other means.”

When dialog is no longer an option, why would one be surprised that violence (or the threat of it) would be the next step?

(The article linked above is well done, although I believe the author missed the opportunity to call our the far right’s use of violence.)
